Buy a good quality wooden Viking ship is not a model?
I am very interested in the historic sites of the Viking Age, most notably ships. I've been looking for a longship snekkja for some time, and not just a model, but a Viking longship premium style that is made for use, no decoration. But looking online I found only models, or small 4-seater that is made in Viking image. I want something that could actually cross the Atlantic in. If anyone knows any company or qualified individuals with experience in the manufacture of these vessels, please let me know. I currently am not able to buy one, but I know of a company or individual expert, who makes these, so you can see what kind of job they have and the price they are asking. A typical snekkja can have a length of 17 meters (56 feet), a width of 2.5 meters (8.2 feet), and a draft of only 0.5 meters (1.6 feet). It carried a crew of about 41 men (40 rowers and a coxswain).
WOW … While I admire his passion for these vessels … And I hope you are prepared for the sticker price. My question however, is here where in the world are planning on searching for a crew of about 40 men each time you use the boat? Also, I'd be there when all these guys come together in this for the first time. lol Earlier this year I saw a National Geographic program in a large group of Norwegians living in the Northeast, which raised $ 300,000 to two guys from the U.S. to come to Norway and build an original Viking ship. This however was a small one with only eight rowers. The TV show ended Day 3 after the release of the ship, and the rowers were not yet able to get the ship more than a couple hundred yards from the launch pad, and Most yards that was not controlled. The last day, two men had to jump into the water and pull the ship the last few hundred feet to the ground to avoid being trapped in the dark. Juan
