Question about sailing across the ocean?
What is a model of a boat or a good boat could buy and sail the ocean. I was looking for an older Carver wood about 28 'long.
Well … here we go again. … One does not know enough about sailing to think about it. A 28 'Carver? Really? And where the ocean is going to find a gas station? How can you sufficient stock provisions for by "and a 28 'boat in the ocean can see what is swollen, 4-5 times the vessel and are thinking of trying it? All I can say this is … good luck and please make sure your will is current.

This just appeared in my inbox: "I'm excited to see the world of consulting to explode. There is a profound lack of original thought. If anyone is not on the cusp of something original. Is there nothing left to invent? Is innovation dead speaks in our profession? "
Wow. Harsh. In response, I have to wonder: how innovation happens, anyway?
Consider using dead reckoning. Merriam-Webster, the online dictionary defines the estimates as "Noun, 1613. Determination without the help of the celestial navigation of the position of a ship or aircraft of the minutes of the courses sailed or flown, the distance traveled (which can be estimated from the speed), the known starting point, and the known or estimated drift. "
In other words, Christopher Columbus experience, through the observation that the Earth is actually the whole year. He concludes that he can sail west to get this, that if he's right, give Queen Isabella of Spain a competitive trade advantage. It is risky, but his heart.
He has to navigate with a map drawn in small UN wooden boats. Where did he get the courage? Well, I knew a few things: I knew that their point of origin, port of Spain. He knew how to measure speed of movement of their ship, throwing out some "leftovers" overboard and count how many songs has through his men before they leave behind of the remains. He could read a compass and headed west. He navigated using estimates, and the rest is, you know, history.
Quiz question: What Columbus was the innovation? Sailing west to go east, or discover a new world?
Both, no doubt, but encounter a new world, was a byproduct of its process – a happy accident – and probably paid more. Dead reckoning facilitated the discovery and surprise. In the hands of a visionary thinker who is comfortable with the risk and uncertainty, the right process of moving toward a goal can lead to profound discoveries. That is, if the process, although structured, remains open.
We too in trying to "be" creative, or "being" innovative, when all we need do is find out what kind of innovation is necessary, fashion then the correct process that moves us from our point known toward that goal, hoping to find something better on the road. Want a different strategy? Start to know exactly where you are now: their competence, the current economic and political environment and the internal realities of your business. This is your "Port of Spain. "Decide if you want to. Under pressure to do everything yourself? Major financial growth? increased brand recognition? define. Then follows a path of discovery, a deep dive, between these two points, and remain open to what you discover. It can be a whole new brand identity, new market niche, new business model within their field. I know one thing, the chances of a happy accident stumbled upon a new world while sitting around himself willing to be innovative or creative or inventive step are very slim. Take a stubborn dedication to the process of deep immersion really surprise. brand strategy and vision processes might feel a bit like singing while watching the debris floating, but if properly structured, open opportunities for new ways of seeing, of course, lead innovation.
Instead of the original question, "is innovation dead in our profession," I wonder: how can we consultants, supporting the work of entrepreneurs with vision, create the navigation tools to help them make discoveries that would later be called "innovation?"
