Today, when you hear the phrase "3-D modeling, computers can think of men with specialized titles glasses, sitting behind computer screens computer giant intricate shapes and designs. Modeling is the best method?
Although there are many questions as to whether or not there is a way to create a model 3D instead, the answer is within the knowledge relevant to each person, the preferred method of design, and the preference to software. There are three main types of 3-D design used today, and are considered the most popular methods used by divisions of graphic design in business.
The first is the "Polygonal modeling, this method uses linearly connected vertices to create the polygonal mesh that are the object. Most of today's 3D models are created using this method because it is fast, flexible and easy for the computer to process input data. The only disadvantage of such 3-D modeling is that all objects are made of small flat surfaces, and even curved shapes are approximated by using flat surfaces.
The second method of modeling 3-D called "NURBS" modeling. This type of model uses spline curves to create the appearance of life-like objects, and starts with the use of weight-control points. The most popular program that uses such a design is called "Maya" and is well known commercial software. Surfaces created by NURBS are really soft, and although a bit harder than other methods, it creates an ideal system for modeling 3-D organic.
Splines and reviews of models is very similar to NURBS and also depends on the curved lines to define form. It is between NURBS and polygonal in its ease of use, and uses modeling techniques that have similarities with both. These three methods of 3-D modeling have their advantages and disadvantages, depending on the designer and their use for specific projects.
