Space Ship Models
In the 20th century Sci Fi films used as models for ships, so how do people move in?
I realized that in 2001 odyysey space and numerous Star Trek films, a large angle spacecraft models that have made the pilots or passengers seem to move within of the vessel, increasing the realism. Unlike the Star Wars movies used only fixed figures, probably because the boats are moving so fast you do not have time to see the pilot adjusting his helmet or whatever. I am constantly fasinated to what I think are superior effects to someof the things cgi, and my own theory, perhaps responding to my own question is that they use mini television screens displaying images recorded previously, and then place the television inside the ship model establishign scale and deceive the eye.
Old films was mainly based on work mate. Rather than mumble my way through an explanation, rounded links to sites that talk about the SFX of "2001" was a remarkable achievement of the sixties. I have a book about the making of "2001", a book of pocket, but can not remember the title, maybe I'll come through it. / / I did it! Here is the info: Jerome Agel, ed. The making of Kubrick 2001. My copy is full of newspaper clippings and additional notes. As a Sci Fi fan in my teens (1968), I loved this film, will see many times over a period of time that people rarely see a movie more than once in the theater. I think "2001" is the movie that has changed our habits of going to the movies, which gives us a movie that requires multiple views to capture even part of it.
