Described by Christopher Columbus over 500 years as "the most beautiful land human eyes have ever seen," Cuba has never ceased to fascinate visitors because of its abundant natural beauty, warm and loving people, rich culture and beautiful colonial cities. Because of its location, Cuba is one of the islands most privileged in the Caribbean in terms of biodiversity, conservation status and the high number of endemic species.
There are over 300 sandy beaches in the country, with warm placid waters free of contaminants and covers approximately 600 km of national territory. Many are found in the more than 4,000 neighbors who offer virgin keys outstanding productivity.
Villa Clara Keys are a fickle group of some 500 islands scattered over a sea of various shades of blue and green on the north coast of the central province of Villa Clara, near the second barrier coral reef in the world. It is a tropical paradise with over 17 km of white sandy beaches.
Villa Clara Keys, covering over 77 844 hectares, is a haven for wildlife and provide habitat for some 248 species of plans. Most jewels are Cayo Las Brujas, Cayo Santa Maria and Cayo Ensenachos, known for its incredible scenery of immaculate beauty, with sugar white sand beaches and crystalline waters, surrounded by native vegetation and connected to Caibarien a small fishing village on the mainland of Cuba, by a causeway extends 48 kilometers above the sea-granted an international award for its harmonious combination of the nature and engineering in an area declared a Biosphere Reserve, thus enabling visitors to access the keys directly from the city of Santa Clara, home to the airport internationally. The road has a total of 46 bridges specially designed to allow the flow of seawater, therefore the protection of biodiversity and sustainability area.
There is a small air terminal in Cayo Las Brujas the operation of small aircraft and medium enterprises.
Cayos de Villa Clara, about 300 kilometers from Havana, is part of Jardines del Rey archipelago, the largest archipelago surrounding Cuba, which stretches along 465 kilometers of the north coast.
A place of legends, it is said that this island, a maze of unique biodiversity, which was once a haven for pirates and buccaneers to jump on the boat that runs along the coasts of Cuba.
Cayo Las Brujas takes its name from an old legend about a young couple whose love was thwarted by an uncle jealousy, which in turn is named for another island: Cayo Borracho, drunk, what it means. The remains of San Paulo, a ship that ran aground many years ago can be seen a mile away from the tap. Built in San Francisco, California, and launched in 1919, the vessel evokes the presence of U.S. writer Ernest Hemingway in the area. Since its cover, Cuba painter Leopoldo RomaƱach found inspiration for some of his famous seascapes.
Cayo Ensenachos is the smallest of the three keys, but is a haven for the 22 endemic plants and 39 species of wildlife. Horseshoe shape, the island was originally a native settlement. The beach is always calm, due to the position of the key that prevents the big waves hit the coast with force.
Cayo Santa Maria is also known as the White Rose's Garden King. The key was the name of the flagship of Christopher Columbus's fleet on his first voyage to the New World. Legend has it that this strip of land about 13 km long and 2 km wide, is haunted by the spirit of Rosa Maria Courage, a woman who hid on board a ship in a desperate attempt to find both Paradise and his beloved. She landed in the key and managed to survive hidden in the swamps, including mangroves and fish eating, until finally he discovered that his dearly beloved in a neighboring key.
Villa Clara Keys are a challenge to fantasy, one is quickly captivated by this pristine paradise by simply breathing the fresh air of the sea.
